Billy Dawson, coach of the decade in Arkansas from 2000-2009, has had an impressive 27-year coaching career. With 4 state championships and 13 conference championships, it’s no wonder he’s been named Coach of the Year by over 32 publications. His overall record is 192-65, and 23 of his assistant coaches went on to become head coaches.

Dawson’s record isn’t the only thing about him that’s impressive. He’s left a lasting mark on those he’s coached and worked alongside. Dawson has been a speaker for Glazier and Nike coaching clinics since 2006. He’s also a 2019 Southern Arkansas University Hall of Fame Inductee and Lowell Manning Award honored top Coach in Arkansas.

Billy has been married to his wife Karen for 27 years. They have two children. Their son Luke is Offensive Coordinator at Baptist Prep, and their daughter Rachel is in graduate school in Denver, CO. Billy and Karen reside in Fayetteville, AR.

Dawson retired in April 2019 and now works with GeoSurfaces, a turf, track and LED lighting company.
